Kin Thai Street Eatery

Kin Thai Street Eatery in midtown is the place to go if you’re feeling adventurous and want a unique take on Thai food. Familiar flavors and dishes are elevated here into new forms that will astound your notion of what Thai food can be. Kin Thai Street Eatery is a restaurant I’d visit any day of the week - in fact, my goal is to try every single item available on the menu! I will not stop until I’ve had every last thing!

My pick for favorite starter has to be the roots. Doesn’t sound like much, but these golden fried taro roots, pumpkin, sweet potato, and black bean cake combine for a delicious beginning to a meal. And dipping them in the tangy tamarind sauce really sets them off. I’m dying to try the Thai Ravioli and curry puffs the on my next visit. Both of those items sound so appetizing! I’ll be back for them soon.

When it comes to going to Thai restaurants, my go-to’s are either the green curry or the pad thai. Kin Thai Street Eatery has both of these staples, but puts their own spin on them. Green curry typically has a smooth heat with your choice of protein, peppers, and purple eggplant. The green curry here triples the eggplant variety with round apple eggplant, pea eggplant, and the traditional purple eggplant. It was exciting to to try these additions to the dish. If you really want to be adventurous you can even sub out the rice for vermicelli noodles and a soft boiled egg to make it more of a street experience.

And the pad thai? Well, you can get that traditionally but also wrapped inside an egg crepe. Break open the egg and enjoy the pad thai inside.

Ever heard of pad kee mao? Yep, that’d be drunken noodles! Well, here they have spaghetti kee mao! It’s spaghetti noodles with garlic chilli sauce and your choice of northern style herb spice pork sausage, seafood, or impossible meat.

These are just a few of the entrees you’ll find on Kin Thai Street Eatery’s menu. There are so many other items including boat noodle soup, clay pot shrimp, crab fried rice, and desserts like mango sticky rice.

The hardest thing about coming here is figuring out what to try first.

The word is certainly out on Kin Thai Street Eatery so I’d try to take advantage of a non rush hour to visit the restaurant. You can end up waiting for quite a while during its busiest times. In any case, Kin Thai Street Eatery is one of the must-go places in town. The uniqueness of the experience is worth your time!
