Bonchon Chicken
Bonchon Chicken is a large restaurant chain that serves up Korean Fried Chicken (KFC). They’ve been around Sacramento for years now and many locals really enjoy the food at these locations. Their menu is full of variety with fun Korean items to try.
Of course, the star of the restaurant is their Korean Fried Chicken. You can get it in five different varieties: soy garlic, spicy, Korean BBQ, Yangnyeom, and classic crunch. I would say their signature flavor is the soy garlic - and it is a very enjoyable taste. It mixes a tasty savory flavor with some sweetness. I love this flavor as it is not too sweet that you can’t enjoy it wing after wing. The same goes for the spicy flavor. It has a little kick, but it isn’t so much that it becomes a pain to eat. I’d say that Bonchon expertly balances the flavor of the chicken so that you just want to keep coming back to it over and over again. I personally really enjoyed their chicken and wouldn’t hesitate to keep coming back for more. It’s addictive!
While many chicken restaurants have a pretty limited menu, this isn’t the case with Bonchon. They have a pretty big variety so that anyone who comes can find something they’d like even if they’re not feeling like fried chicken.
As a Korean restaurant, there are standard offerings such as bulgogi, bibimbap, and japchae. These items tasted great and came in a portion that was not too small. I found that these traditional dishes were satisfying and made for a great meal. Besides this, they had some Japanese style dishes as well. You can find udon and chicken katsu as choices you can make. I had the chance to try the udon and the broth had a smooth flavor. The udon noodles also had just the right texture that felt authentic.
Some of the most fun items on the menu are the appetizers. You can order some loaded up fries, sweet donuts, as well as Korean style corn dogs. The sweet donuts came with a dipping sauce that gave the donuts a cinnamon roll taste… which was absolutely fabulous. And if you’re a fan of cheese, the mozzarella filled corn dogs will leave you in heaven as they are super cheesy.
The location in Natomas is a good size and can accommodate quite a few people. You can either sit in their dining room or a place at the bar. Like a sports bar, there are many televisions all over showing the latest game. I can imagine this place being a great place to be when the playoffs are going on.
Service was snappy and friendly. My party felt welcome and well attended to. I couldn’t really ask for anything else from them.
Bonchon has really figured it out in terms of creating a great restaurant for some amazing KFC. It’s an easy recommend for me as one of Sacramento’s best places for delicious chicken.
