Cheesesteaks

Sacramento is probably not the first place you’d ever think of when thinking of the famous cheesesteak sandwich. This Philadelphia classic is widely popular, and is that signature sandwich of that city. So how does a cheesesteak sandwich in Sacramento compare? Not bad, I’d say!

The cheesesteak that I had was at a restaurant simply named ‘Cheesesteaks’. Its no frills name doesn’t lend itself to high interest, but I have to say that the sandwiches they make are a solid choice for any meal. Melty cheese and freshly cooked meat is a winning combination no matter what.

Cheesesteaks isn’t a chain restaurant. It’s has a family owned atmosphere and gives its visitors a nice diner vibe. This particular restaurant is positioned in a great location right next to the big Regal movie theater in Natomas. Movie-goers can either eat before or after the flick that they choose to see.

There are a variety of different cheesesteaks and toppings that you can select from on the menu. Being my first visit here I went for the tried and true original with beef with melted Cheez-wiz style sauce on the top. The sandwich really was just that - meat and cheese on a soft long roll.

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that really work, and that’s the case here. The soft roll enveloped the cheesy meat perfectly. The sandwich was nice and hot and was easy to eat. The bread had a nice pillowy texture while the meat and cheese provided all the flavor you could want.

I happily ate my sandwich very quickly. To go with it, I got a bag of Doritos, but you can order fries if you like.

If you want chicken over beef, you’re in luck! The menu also features the same sandwiches with chicken, so go ahead and select the protein that you like the most.

So if you’re thinking one day that you could really use a cheesesteak sandwich, head over to Natomas and get your fix there.
