Pizzasaurus Rex

Pizzasaurus Rex has been a place I’ve been wanting to try for a while. It has such a cool name and vibe! The first time I tried visiting was during the evening a while back and it was so packed that I decided to try again on another day. I finally got my chance recently during lunch hour to experience the pizza they have on offer.

The pizza here is rectangular shaped with a full sized pie having about 12 square slices. They say that one of these can feed 4 people, but if you come with folks that aren’t big eaters, one pie could probably feed a little more than that. I found the pizza here to be excellent. Though these are square pizzas, I wouldn’t call it a Detroit style pizza. The crust, ingredients, and feel of the pizza is more reminiscent of your regular round pizza - just in the rectangle shape. I found the ingredients and quality of the pizza to be excellent. The pizza has a premium feel to it. It’s not greasy or too bready. The crust has a great taste to it that makes the whole thing easy to eat. My kid, who almost always leaves the crust behind on the plate was eagerly eating it up! That’s certainly a testament to how good the crust is in my book!

The cheese pizza that I ordered wasn’t just your plain old mozzarella pizza. I would call this one a pie that is more elevated than that. It features a dollop of ricotta cheese on each slice as well as fresh basil sprinkled on top. The ricotta and basil really lift the flavor profile of the pizza and gives it a premium feel that nuanced pizza lovers will really enjoy.

Besides being able to order whole pizzas, you can also get pizza by the slice. This is really handy if you’re coming by yourself or with a friend and want a quick bite rather than waiting on a whole pie. Pizzasaurus Rex has cheese, pepperoni, and a rotating special (Dino) slice to select from.

I tried the pepperoni slice and I enjoyed it as much as the cheese. I particularly enjoyed the cup style pepperoni they used. It was crisp and flavorful. They didn’t overload the top with pepperoni and showed a restrained hand with the ingredient. Each bite was balance and kept me wanting to come back for more.

If you enjoy dipping your slices with sauce, Pizzasaurus Rex has got you covered in that area. They feature three different sauces for you to select from. There’s their hot honey, ranch, and dino sauce. The hot honey isn’t particularly spicy, but it has a mildly sweet flavor with a little heat on it. I’d say it’s balanced more for sweetness than heat. This paired really well with the pepperoni giving those salty pepperoni pieces a zip of sweetness.

The ranch was your nicely done in-house ranch sauce. It’s not too thick and adds a great mild taste to whatever pizza you choose. If you’re looking for something that gives you a burst of flavor, go for the dino sauce. It’s a spicy cilantro green sauce that packs a nice punch. It’s not super spicy, but I’d say you certainly feel a kick with it.

Pizzasaurus Rex has a fun environment to eat in. The dining area is cozy, but not huge. You can choose to eat in or find a table right outside as well. Thankfully on my second visit I found a table immediately, but on some evenings I know that finding tables will not be so simple.

Service-wise, I found the person at the counter to be patient and friendly. They were quick to help me out since it was my first time visiting. The food came out without too much of a wait and my friends and I had a great time dining in.

Pizzasaurus Rex is a stellar pizza place and one that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
